SIDAMA HIGHLANDS Coffee Co. · Ethiopia
Premium Ethiopian Arabica coffee, grown with tradition and excellence. Authentic Ethiopian coffee from the heart of Sidama.
Sidama Highlands Coffee carries forward a story that began with my grandfather, Kamiso, who tended a small coffee farm in these hills long before "specialty coffee" was a category anyone named. His son — my father, Biru — took that small plot and built it into a serious coffee operation, working the land and the trade for more than 20 years with a strength and patience I've tried to learn from every day.
I'm Yishak, Biru's son, and I founded Sidama Highlands Coffee to take what my father and grandfather built and carry it to the world — without losing the care, the patience, or the family hands behind every bag we export.
Our mission is to carry that heritage into the global specialty market without losing what makes it distinct: meticulous harvesting, careful processing, and full traceability from farm to port. Our vision is a Sidama where smallholder farmers — and families like ours — share directly in the value their coffee creates abroad.
Long-term agreements with smallholder cooperatives across the Sidama zone, with pricing transparency built in.
Every lot is cupped and graded before export, with full documentation of altitude, process, and cooperative of origin.
Shade-grown methods and soil-conservation practices that protect the volcanic highlands for the next harvest.
Every lot is selected, processed, and graded to preserve the character of its origin — from washing station to export-ready green bean.
Hand-picked ripe cherry from smallholder gardens at 1,550–2,300m, cupping 84+ on the SCA scale.
Fully washed and fermented at our partner stations for a clean, bright cup with pronounced acidity.
Sun-dried on raised beds with the cherry intact, developing deep berry sweetness and body.
Sorted, milled, and bagged to international export standard with full traceability documentation.
A rare, strictly limited-batch offering processed and documented to the same traceability standard as every lot we export. By inquiry only.
The Sidama zone sits where geography does most of the work — our role is simply not to get in its way.
Equatorial sun, highland cool, and consistent rainfall give the cherry a long, slow ripening window — the single biggest driver of flavour complexity in Arabica.
Sustainability isn't a certification we chase — it's the only way coffee here has ever been grown.
Direct, multi-year agreements with Sidama cooperatives that share price information and pay above the local floor for quality lots.
Shade-tree canopy management, water-conscious wet-mill operations, and pulp composting to protect highland watersheds.
Full chain-of-custody from farm gate to port, so every importer can trace a bag back to the cooperative that grew it.
Alongside our core Arabica program, Sidama Highlands Coffee offers a small, strictly limited allocation of premium civet-processed coffee — sourced and documented with the same traceability standard as every other lot we export. Available by inquiry only, subject to seasonal availability.
Request Wholesale PricingNamed for my father, the Biru Coffee Washing Station in Aleta Wendo is where our fully-washed lots are fermented, washed, and dried on raised beds — the same process he refined over more than two decades in this trade.
From my grandfather Kamiso's small plot, to my father Biru's 20+ years building the trade, to the station that now carries his name — every lot that passes through Aleta Wendo is handled the way our family has always handled it: carefully, and with full visibility into where it came from.
